Pre-sowing seed treatment

Pre-sowing seed treatment with Nertus Mix micronutrient fertilizers shall be carried out by mechanical means using seed protectants such as ПС-10, КПС-10, ПСШ-5 or any other equipment that allows for even treating of seed material; this process is usually combined with treatment with insect fungicides. All Nertus Mix fertilizers intended for pre-sowing seed treatment contain copper (Cu+2), zinc (Zn+2) and manganese (Mn+2) which have fungicidal properties. It is recommended in some cases to reduce the input rate of the disinfectant by 10-25%. After seed treatment, it shall be dried or immediately sown.

Preparation of working solution for pre-sowing seed treatment according to the scheme:
Nertus Mix fertilizer + water

  • Prepare the required amount of agent for 1 ton of seeds.

  • Prepare the required amount of water, assuming that the total volume of Nertus Mix fertilizer and water
    shall be as recommended for this type of seeds.
    For example, the recommended amount of liquid for processing of 1 ton of grain is 10 l; for preparation of this volume take 7
    l of water and 3 l of Nertus Mix TrioPhos-Root SeaForce.

  • Pour 2/3 of the prepared water into the mixer, add all the prepared volume of Nertus Mix fertilizer, and turn on mixing. After 3-5 minutes, add the rest of the water. The prepared solution can be used to treat the seed in any convenient way.

Preparation of working solution for pre-sowing seed treatment according to the scheme:
Nertus Mix fertilizer + disinfectant + water*

  • Prepare the required amount of agent for 1 ton of seeds.

  • Prepare the required amount of disinfectant, reducing the recommended amount by 20-25%.

  • Prepare the required amount of water, assuming that the total volume of Nertus Mix fertilizer and water
    shall be as recommended for this type of seeds.
    For example, the recommended amount of liquid for processing of 1 ton of grain is 10 l; for preparation of this volume take
    5.5 l of water, 1 l of disinfectant and 3.5 l of Nertus Mix TrioPhos-Root SeaForce.

  • Pour water into the mixer, add all the prepared volume of Nertus Mix fertilizer, and turn on mixing. After
    3-5 minutes, add the disinfectant. The prepared solution can be used to treat the seed in any convenient
    way.

* Nertus Mix fertilizers are well compatible with pesticides present on the Ukrainian market, but in order to avoid unforeseen circumstances (deterioration of the working solution, additional costs, etc.) it is recommended to carry out preliminary mixing. Dissolve 5 ml of Nertus Mix fertilizer in 250 ml of water and mix it up with a mixture made of 5 ml of disinfectant and 250 ml of water. The resulting volume shall rest for 10-15 minutes. There shall be no emulsion break (for emulsifying preparations), coagulation or precipitation (for suspension preparations), smell or discoloration.

Soaking

Seeds of the most vegetable crops, trees transplants, cuttings of grapes, berry bushes and ornamental plants are recommended to soak in a 3-7% solution of the appropriate fertilizer before sowing or planting. Seeds shall be soaked for 4-10 hours; then the working solution shall be drained, and the seeds shall be sown. It is acceptable to process several batches of seeds with one volume of the prepared working solution. The cuttings shall be immersed in the working solution for 2/3 of the length, and incubated for 8-12 hours, then planted, and the working solution shall be reused or diluted 2 times with water and used for watering. The root system of saplings of fruit trees shall be immersed in a 3-5% solution for 2-6 hours, of ornamental shrubs and conifers – for 2-3 hours, then planted; the used solution shall be diluted 2 times with water and used for watering. The recommended temperature of the working solution when soaking is 16-22 °C.
Preparation of 10 l of 5% working solution: add 0.5 l of the appropriate Nertus Mix fertilizer to 9.5 l of water with a temperature t = 20-22 °C, mix for 2-3 minutes. Use the resulting solution immediately or store for no more than 2 days in a tightly closed container.

Foliar (non-root) application

Foliar (non-root) application (spraying) shall be carried out using any equipment intended for this purpose, including small aircraft. For this type of plant treatment, working solutions shall be prepared from individual agents or by combining them. It is economically feasible to combine foliar fertilizing with Nertus Mix fertilizers with pesticide treatment. Nertus Mix fertilizers are well compatible with pesticides present on the Ukrainian market, but in order to avoid unforeseen circumstances (deterioration of the working solution, additional costs, etc.) it is recommended to carry out preliminary mixing. Dissolve 5 ml of Nertus Mix fertilizer in 250 ml of water and mix it up with a mixture made of 5 ml of disinfectant and 250 ml of water. The resulting volume shall rest for 10-15 minutes. There shall be no emulsion break (for emulsifying preparations), coagulation or precipitation (for suspension preparations), smell or discoloration. For foliar fertilizing with Nertus Mix fertilizer together with pesticides, follow the recommended input rates, without reducing them.

Preparation of working solution for foliar application according to the scheme:
Nertus Mix fertilizer + water

  • Prepare the required amount of agent for preparation of the necessary amount of working solution based on the recommendations given in the table.

  • Pour 2/3 of the required amount of water, turn on mixing, and add the prepared amount of the agent*.
    After 2-3 minutes, add 1/3 of the water. The resulting solution can be used to treat the plants in any convenient way.

First, urea is applied and allowed to dissolve. Then the calculated amount of Nertus Mix fertilizer is applied.

Preparation of working solution for foliar application according to the scheme:
Nertus Mix fertilizer + pesticide + water

  • Prepare the required amount of agent for preparation of the necessary amount of working solution based on the recommendations given in the table.

  • Prepare the required amount of pesticide in accordance with the regulated norms of input specified in the instructions for its use.

  • Pour 2/3 of the required amount of water, turn on mixing, and add the prepared amount of the agent*. After 2-3 minutes, add pesticide and 1/3 of the water. The resulting solution can be used to treat the plants in any convenient way.

* if necessary, urea (carbamide) shall be added to the working solution. The order of components introduction is as follows. First, urea is applied and allowed to dissolve. Then the calculated amount of Nertus Mix fertilizer is applied. Within 1-2 minutes a homogeneous solutionshall be formed. After that, add pesticide.

Preparation of working solution for foliar application according to the scheme:
Nertus Mix fertilizer (1) + Nertus Mix fertilizer (2) + water

  • Prepare the required amount of agent (1) for preparation of the necessary amount of working solution based on the recommendations given in the table.

  • Prepare the required amount of agent (2) for preparation of the necessary amount of working solution based on the recommendations given in the table.

  • Pour 2/3 of the required amount of water, turn on mixing, and add the prepared amount of the agent (1)*.
    After 2-3 minutes, add agent (2) and 1/3 of the water**. The resulting solution can be used to treat the plants in any convenient way.

General recommendations for foliar application:
DO NOT PERFORM FOLIAR FERTILIZATION DURING BLOOMING.

Requirements for water: оthere are no special requirements for water used for working with Nertus Mix agents. If water has a high hardness or a pH value different from 6.8-7.2, it is necessary to use softeners or pH correctors. The temperature of water used for foliar fertilization shall not differ from the ambient temperature by more than 2 °C, and in any case, the temperature of the working solution shall not be below + 10 °C.
Temperature: it is recommended to perform foliar fertilization at air temperature from +10 °С to +25-27 °С. In autumn, winter crops shall be treated at an average daily temperature of +5 °C. Fertilization shall be performed in the morning or in the evening; it is also acceptable to perform fertilization in the afternoon in cloudy weather. Do not perform foliar fertilization in bright sunlight and less than 2-3 hours before the rain.

Drip irrigation

Nertus Mix fertilizers are suitable for use in drip irrigation systems, alone or mixed with other fertilizers. Calculation of fertilizer input shall be carried out on situ considering a crop type and irrigation scheme. In general, for the season, it is recommended to use no more than 10 l of micronutrient and 100 l of macronutrient fertilizers for 1 ha. The number of applications is not strictly regulated; for micronutrient fertilizers – from 2 to 4; for macronutrient fertilizers – from 2 to 6.

Watering

For watering with fertilization, it is recommended to use solutions of micronutrient and macronutrient fertilizers.

Preparation of 100 l of 0.5% fertilizer solution:
Prepare 99.5 l of water, add 0.5 l of fertilizer, mix and use the resulting solution for watering.

Soil application

For soil application, Nertus Mix MackroPlant fertilizers are recommended. Fertilizers can be used for spring fertilization
of winter crops on frozen ground, as a starting fertilizer during seeds sowing (with application in rows or continuously),
as well as components of solutions for syringe irrigation. Fertilizer input is according to application regulations.

Recommendations for use
of Nertus Mix fertilizers

Water quality

For preparation of working solutions of Nertus Mix fertilizers use water free from mechanical impurities from any sources.

Water with a hardness below 10 mg-equ/l (10 mol/m3) does not require prior softening. Water with an index of more than 12 mg-equ/l in some cases requires prior softening. Water pH equal to 6.0-8.0 does not require use of pH correctors and buffering agents. Mechanical impurities do not affect the efficiency of Nertus Mix fertilizers, but they can cause known inconveniences during sprayer operation.

Water temperature

For preparation of working solutions use water with a temperature of 15-22 °C.
Water with a temperature below 8 °C adversely affects the flow of nutrients into the plant and can cause stress caused by a rapid temperature drop.

Ambient temperature

It is recommended to treat plants at air temperature no lower than + 18 °С and no higher than 25 °С.
In this temperature range, maximum efficiency of applied fertilizers is noted, associated with optimal rate of absorption of nutrients with leaf surface. Temperatures below + 16 °C reduce the rate of nutrients supply to the plant and their absorbability due to inhibition of biochemical processes and growth at low temperatures. Temperatures above +25 °C promote rapid evaporation of water from the leaf surface, reducing the time it takes nutrients to enter the plant.

General foliar fertilization conditions

Foliar application shall be performed in the morning hours. Do not perform foliar fertilization 10:00 AM on a sunny day.
In case of cloudy weather, it is acceptable to carry out treatments at any time, but no later than 5 hours before sunset. It is unacceptable to carry out treatments in rainy weather and in strong winds.

Plant treatment during blooming

Foliar application shall be performed in the morning hours. Do not perform foliar fertilization 10:00 AM on a sunny day.
It is not recommended to carry out treatments during blooming period, especially in cool weather with high humidity.

Safety precautions

  • By the degree of impact on the environment, Nertus Mix fertilizers belong to class 4 (low hazardous substances); they are not combustible, but fire- and explosion-proof.

  • Nertus Mix fertilizers shall be stored in the manufacturer’s container, at a temperature of +5 to + 28 °C, in a place protected from direct sunlight, away from heat sources, food or feed animals.

  • Nertus Mix fertilizers are safe for useful insects (bees), domestic and farm animals subject to the regulations for use.

  • In the case of spillage of Nertus Mix fertilizers wash it off with plenty of water.

  • When working with Nertus Mix fertilizers, it is necessary to observe sanitary and hygienic rules. Use hands (rubber gloves) and eyes (goggles) protection.

  • In case of contact of Nertus Mix fertilizer with skin, rinse it with plenty of water. In case of contact of Nertus Mix fertilizer with eyes, rinse them with plenty of cold water. If swallowed, induce vomiting.

  • Keep the Nertus Mix fertilizers away from children.

  • The Nertus Mix fertilizers shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture.
